Central Command Initiative, in Partnership with New North, Showcases SkillBridge Platform for Employers

Wausau, WI – August 19, 2025 – Centergy, Inc., in partnership with New North, will host a virtual information session on Tuesday, September 17 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM to introduce employers, HR professionals, and community leaders to the U.S. Department of Defense’s SkillBridge program.

The SkillBridge platform connects transitioning service members with civilian career opportunities during their final 180 days of service. The program allows employers to access a pipeline of highly skilled, mission-driven talent, while service members gain valuable civilian work experience before officially separating from the military.

The event is part of Central Command, Centergy’s comprehensive veteran attraction initiative designed to make Central Wisconsin a destination of choice for transitioning service members and their families. Central Command focuses on navigating success in Central Wisconsin by showcasing the economic and community impact of military talent, highlighting the diversity and strengths veterans bring to the workforce, and engaging employers in practical hiring initiatives.

Through Central Command, Centergy partners with organizations like Semper Forward—an extensive national network built to help the military community find their next mission and to elevate employers ready to be part of that mission. The initiative also works to spread awareness and advocate for veteran employment, share best practices for engaging military talent, and leverage veteran networks to strengthen the region’s workforce.

This upcoming session will highlight SkillBridge, a platform that connects service members with civilian career opportunities during their final 180 days of service. The program enables employers to access a pipeline of highly skilled, mission-driven talent while service members gain valuable civilian work experience before officially separating from the military.

Veterans bring leadership, discipline, teamwork, and advanced technical expertise to the workforce. Beyond the job site, their contributions strengthen the regional economy through wages, entrepreneurship, homeownership, and local spending. Research shows that each veteran who settles in the region generates an estimated $60,000 to $80,000 in annual economic activity, creating measurable benefits for both businesses and communities.
